Tessa Thompson

The actor Tessa Lynn Thompson was born on October 3, 1983 in Los Angeles, California. Thompson is the daughter of Marc Anthony Thompson (a singer/songwriter) as well as the grandchild of Bobby Ramos, an actor/musician. Her family was born within Los Angeles before moving to Brooklyn, New York. Her father is of Afro-Panamanian family and her mother is from Mexican as well as British Isles heritage. Thompson was a student at Santa Monica High School, which was where she performed in various theatre productions. Following her graduation, she began her studies in Santa Monica College, where she obtained a certificate in the field of cultural anthropology. At Pasadena's Boston Court Theatre, she played Juliet in Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet". It was her performance that made her a NAACP Theatre nomination the same year. Silk was born Fredericton, New Brunswick Canada. Ilkay Silk is the daughter of Peter Silk, an academic as well as Peter Silk, known as an accomplished actor and director.
